Dawn-Robin is a beautiful broken offering. She now has a room in the Ross Hotel on San Julian, but until this recent gift, she has lived a life of shifting through shelters and streets. Her dad left when she was a young girl, and her mom died soon thereafter. Almost inevitably, the pain of these losses drove her into a foggy darkness where she tried to find healing through substances and unanchored love. Her knowledge of the Scriptures is continually bringing her back to solid ground and her songwriting gives life to her soul. She told me she has always felt there were parallels between her life and that of Mary Magdalene; she sees herself as one prostrate at the feet of Christ, repentant of her past, but looking up while pouring out a beautiful offering to him.
